So a few months ago, this blog went dark. Then, a few weeks later, it came back. I did not get into it very much (and still will not) but I can say that those events began a long chain reaction will which ultimately mean that the Dungeons & Dragons campaign I am running will come to an end.
The campaign began in the waning months of the pandemic, when I wanted to run something for my kids before my eldest daughter headed off to college. It continued through her leaving for school (then returning a year later) and over time the cast of players (and characters) changed, the party grew, then shrank, then grew even bigger, and then shrank again.
But now, it has become apparent that I may have perhaps less than a half dozen sessions to wrap everything up. My daughter is pretty much out of the campaign, but I am trying to wrap up his PC’s origin story. At that point, I will implore the other players to find among themselves someone to run the campaign, or see if the other half of my circle of gaming friends to step in.
Once that is done, then there will likely be a span of time where I will be less active with hobby pursuits than I have been and when I do get up to speed, it will likely be solo wargaming or roleplaying. That is a big shift, but one that I am more than able to handle.
So stick around, both for the ending of “The Hides of Aestel” (the name of the D&D campaign) and the beginning of something else.
