So I am unclear about whether this question is about this year, or ever. But since “ever” is a more interesting answer (because this year is “me, and the D&D campaign I reference frequently on this blog) I will answer that one.
My answer is, “I don’t remember his name.” It was in Atlanta, I was in eighth grade, and this guy was an adult, bearded, heavy set, and running a game for a group of adults and troublingly underage youth, one of whom was a friend of mine. She invited me to a gaming session and I went a few times.
The game? Star Trek by FASA. I remember that the campaign was ridiculous in many ways: the crew were a bunch of superspies in a Constitution class ship that had prototype shields so powerful you could drive it through a star. I’m pretty sure there were several Caitians and one Deltan on the crew too. There was lots of silliness and mildly risque banter and the odd loose firearm and every once in a while the group would head out to the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
It was 1983. Times were like that. I vaguely remember running a D&D game around the same time for one friend where he played Ptah from Deities & Demigods so he could beat up other gods and romance Lloth or some such nonsense.
So from tiny acorns mighty oaks grow, as they say….
