As I mentioned in an earlier post, I purchased the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game recently, and I have been checking up on the rules. The game has “levels” which represent the power of the character and their relative range of authority and scope. For my first trial build, I thought I would try building a level 1 character. Level 1 characters are at about the same power level as Hydra agents. I imagine that the Level 1 PC’s would be like Marvel’s New Mutants or some of the original Legion of Super-heroes. As it turns out I have the perfect inspiration: my daughter’s comic book universe “Villainy 101.”

The story focuses on Dark Matter, the young scion of an Asian supervillain family/crime syndicate who is attending college at the fictional Golden River University, which also has a secret program for training the offspring of supervillains. Villainy 101 has Dark Matter juggling typical college life, the trials of learning to be a supervillain, and her complicated relationship with Lion, a young superhero who protects the city. Dark Matter is a novice just starting her career.

This actually looks pretty good. Recently my daughter started a new chapter where Dark Matter married Lion and they are raising a child. I could imagine Dark Matter being at Level 4 at that point.
