I have been considering adopting the practice of “Tiny Prep” from Che Webster to begin to lay the foundation of a future fantasy RPG campaign. The principle is that each day (or whenever) you do one of six things:
- 1 is Write a Clue
- 2 is Add one room to a dungeon map
- 3 Add something to an NPC profile
- 4 Add something to an item design
- 5 Write down a consequence from last session
- 6 Add a person, place, or thing to the world
Webster suggests doing this randomly, but I figure I would just let the mood strike me. So to get things kicked off, and to show some early digital illustration work I’m doing, here is my first offering.

This ancient plinth can be found on the outskirts of the city along a road leading into the forest. The skull, if examined, will turn out to be from a goblin. The plinth is heavily weathered and askew, and the rune is unfamiliar to all but the most learned of sages.
If the skull is removed, another will take its place in 1d3 days.
Yes, yes. But whose skull? 🙂
