These Ironskull Duelists come from the Arena of the Undead Horde by Steamforged Games. It is part of their “Epic Encounters” range where the box set includes a pretty complex encounter with double-sided game mat, encounter details, and all the miniatures you will need. The box set is theoretically scaled for low, medium, and upper level PC’s, but openly admits that it is best used for medium (levels 5-10). I will not go into too much detail here since I will likely use the encounter in my home D&D game, but I did think I could share some of the miniatures that I have been painting up in anticipation of that.

I will say that Ironskull Duelists are basically undead infantry with upgraded melee abilities to reflect their advanced skill. As is the case for the whole box set, each group of monsters has an identical miniature and while I could have painted them up differently, I figured it would be easier to get them done (and easier for the players to identify) if they looked the same.

One month in, and I am well ahead of schedule to my painting goal for the year.
