Sci-fi crew from Arvalon-8

(L-R) Skizzix, Kayla, Joreal “The Seeker”, and Gix

I mentioned a bit ago that I was doing some different things, and that includes finally printing up miniatures from a Kickstarter I backed four years ago from RMPrintable. That Kickstarter was “Arvalon-8” and featured spaceships, terrain, and miniatures. I was taken by the fact that the campaign’s miniatures had a ton of diversity and each one looked like it could be a PC or NPC from a sci-fi game rather than a bunch of similarly uniformed soldiers, and there were literally dozens of them. In addition, there are nine spacecraft at 1:32 scale that can be done on an FDM printer.

But it wouldn’t be until years later that I got a resin printer, broke it, and then got another one that I finally figured out, and so now I can dust off those files and start printing figures. This team is “Crew 7” and lacks their own spaceship (although one of the spacecraft lacks a crew, so maybe that was a clerical error). There’s one apparent robot (or guy is light armor), a female crew member whose sword broke off when I was removing supports, a regal-looking second female figure, and a guy who is either a robot or in heavy power armor. I’m thinking robot for “Skizzix” and guy (alien?) in heavy power armor for “Gix.”

You can practically see the backstory of a wealthy psionicist known as “the Seeker,” her pilot and partner, a quirky robot who decided to put on camo clothing, and a bodyguard in heavy armor to deal with the rough stuff.

My only complaint? Like many designers they make the “realistic” proportions a little too thin in the limbs and lacking much in facial detail, so they are prone to breaking and seem a little unfinished as a result. But I still like the concept, and I am four more closer to my painting goal for the year.
