Morgana, elven warlock

Sometimes I think that my current D&D campaign feels a bit like the television series Law & Order, in that every so often there’s a cycling of players, and player characters, out while new ones come in. A couple of months ago two players dropped out, another came in for one or two sessions and then had to bow out because of a changing work schedule (that would be the celestial cleric). There have been a few guest players scattered in there, and now two new players have joined. Like many of the players, this is their first time playing a roleplaying game, much less D&D. After some conversation about what kind of what kind of characters they like from novels, movies, comics, etc. I concluded that one should play an elf warlock (we needed a spellcaster in the group as well) and the other a human barbarian (a melee tank doesn’t hurt as well). When I asked the warlock’s player what her character looked like, she said, “blue skin, green hair,” having no idea what typical D&D elves look like.

But you know, there’s nothing wrong with that answer. Maybe there are blue skinned elves of Celestoria. Or perhaps her power from her Fey patron changed her appearance. There’s nothing wrong with a little random player-inspired lore creeping into the game.

This figure is from DM Stash, which can be found at Myminifactory. I’m at forty miniatures for the year, two-thirds of the way to my goal for the year.
