These are aliens from the futuristic board game Zombicide: Invader. The first pick are Xenos Workers and I really wanted to try some kind of natural, oceanic color scheme and while you can not tell they were painted with multiple blending layers from green to yellow with subtle colored ink shading and in the end they just look green. Worse, flat and green. I have wondered if they might benefit from a dark wash to draw out the details. I suppose they could also do double duty and vegetation-themed aliens like the comic book character Swamp Thing (who I know is not an alien, but you understand what I am trying to say here).
The second photo are Xenos Hunters and Tanks, and I gave up and looked at the color scheme from the game and painted them that way. I have to admit that they look a lot better, and more malevolent.
This gets my total jacked up to 29, so I am actually ahead of the my goal of 100 for the year, which I am pretty pleased about. Plus I have some good “bug hunt” aliens to my cast of characters as well.
