I finished today a fourth small sci-fi module for my EOW project. I won’t bother posting a pic–it looks exactly like all the others. I’ll get one posted when I start something significant like the next larger size. But for the purposes of the rest of this post, here’s a pic of the small modules.
As I approach my goal of five or six small modules and begin to move to the medium ones, I have a difficult decision to make. How to paint them? I have several different ideas behind this.
First, doing the main parts brown with silver fixtures. Here’s an example of something done in that style:

Or, I could go with a gunmetal and brass look:

Or I could just go with my own gray and metal detail look:

Thoughts?
I like the brown color of Vitruvian Zeke’s Space Hulk Layout.
I get bored with the slightly “rusty” look for Sci-Fi stuff. Machinery that is used is kept non-rusty — and machinery that is not used is totally rusted pretty quickly. Other than that, I prefer the Filtration Station from the options shown.
I don’t know why you can’t use yellows, reds, greens and blues though. Real companies go out of their way to make their stuff as colourful as possible (think Caterpillar yellow). Why is the future always so drab in wargames, yet increasingly colourful in RL — with huge warehouses painted bright orange and machinery in every colour under the sun?
When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four e-mails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove people from that service? Thanks!
