Two more miniatures painted, the first being a demon from the “Kingdoms of Hell” Kickstarter, the other is “Norgol, Irongrave Knight” from Reaper Bones. The demon was 3D printed on my FDM printer, and honestly while the detail is decent at a distance when it is close up like in the photo on the blog the detail is terrible. Moreover, I painted this one in Speed Paint and for some reason it didn’t settle into the recesses as well as I thought it would.
The Irongrave Knight, on the other hand, feels very old-school GW Chaos Warrior to me and that’s not a bad thing. I painted him with normal paints, but did something different this time–I didn’t paint the metal colors black first, but painted the dark silver straight on top of the gray primer. It did not give me the “blacklining” I’m used to, but I was able to add that in later with dark washes, which I think both preserved some detail and was a more consistent blacklining option.
I’d say your thoughts were appreciated, but since this post is still while the blog is private, there’s nothing forthcoming.
