Colette, vengeful spirit

I frequently use undead creatures as villains in my current D&D campaign, along with demons, cultists, and beastial creatures. The reason is simple: there’s not a lot of moral ambiguity involved. The old “all orcs are bad” trope (or goblins, drow, etc.) has been widely criticized for its possible racist foundations, not to mention the now hackneyed concept of the “good guy out of an evil race” that is best illustrated by Drizzit Do’Urden but also countless other examples.

Creatures that seek to extinguish level, hailing either for the Negative plane or some region of Hell/Hades, and intelligent beings who support them? That’s a little more cut-and-dried.

That is not to say that I am averse to some morally ambiguous NPC’s and storylines. But when I need a “oh yeah, we need to kill this guy,” I’ have my favorites.

Colette, the vengeful spirit, poses an interesting question: is her desire for vengeance from beyond the grave a result of her being wronged by someone evil, or was she thwarted in her own evil schemes and now seeks revenge on the world? Who knows?

Oh yes, in case you wanted to know, this is yet another figure from the Reaper Dungeon Dwellers Kickstarter.
