No, not the iconic album by They Might Be Giants, but an actual flood, in the house I have spent the last month of so moving into. The renovations finished up right after Thanksgiving, and after that it was unpacking the Pods that had held most of our stuff since September. Because it is a smaller house than the one I had come from, I left a lot of stuff behind but did bring along stuff that I wanted to keep (and hopefully use, later).
Most of which was in cardboard boxes. Some of those were put into the basement until we could figure out where things went. On the floor. Of a basement that flooded. ”Someone should have told you the basement did that,” a person who would have known the basement did that told me later.
It could have been worse. A lot worse. Most of the books and electronics were in the main level of the house. But the PLA printer may be wrecked, and I lost a few books, including the third edition Champions RPG I had just purchased. And I had my raging fit which was thankfully brief and have moved on.
Because the reality is that I really want to be doing new things, not repeating stuff that already occurred, and most of it is replaceable regardless.

I’m really sorry this happened to you. Awful. It’s terrible to look around at your stuff and see so much of your efforts and material get wrecked. Do you have homeowner’s/renter’s insurance?
