Reality check (in)

Much of late I have been posting stuff that I have been making, which admittedly is the main purpose of this blog, and not much about the rest of my life, even things hobby-related.

About a month or so ago I joined a D&D campaign that came out of a get-together with a Facebook group dedicated to connecting gamers in the county. We have had two sessions so far, but now are running into the inevitable scheduling issues that occur when gaming with adults. The game is every two weeks on a Friday, and we have cancelled our last session, meaning it will be two weeks before another.

I have also realized that, for the next two months every weekend that isn’t a gaming weekend is one where I have stuff going on Friday evening and Saturday mid-day, two prime times for me to try to run a game of my own. So that idea, for now, is scuttled, at least put on a burner farther back.

On the upside, there’s a lot that has been going right lately, reducing my general stress and freeing up some energy for positive things. I want to take a few more cracks at beating Demonship, among other things. Hopefully I can get into a routine in regards to painting, making blank books, and doing some other solo stuff.

More to come….

  1. Adult RPGing is TOUGH. Weekdays usually mean short sessions that don’t accomplish enough. Weekends are prone to cancellation. I feel strongly that if you are going with every 2 weeks you need a game in which missing a couple players doesn’t stop the session.

    • That’s a good reason why solo play, games that are designed for solo play and not “can be played solo”, are good for those down times.

    • Gaming more frequently is tricky with all the other obligations, but I can see how it helps with these cancellations. Right now we have five players, and while we can get by without one, two is pushing it.

      And so it goes….
